Becoming a Member of the Moor Green Lakes Group

The Benefits

The Bridleway in early SpringYou don't have to be a Member to visit the Reserve; the access paths are public. The main area of the Reserve is restricted access to avoid disturbance to wildlife and the only access is for surveys and conservation and maintenance work. Of course, by joining you contribute to the costs of running and improving the Reserve and get to discover more about what there is to see. The Group currently has over 600 Members.

Members of the Group have access to the viewing hides and receive information about the Reserve and the activities of the Group via two News Letters each year giving information on the latest events, wildlife sightings and topical issues. Members also receive the comprehensive Annual Report which details the results of the numerous wildlife surveys carried out in the previous year. Each February or March members are invited to attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM) to appoint the Group Committee Members and comment on the Group activities and finances. This is followed by refreshments (provided by CEMEX) and a talk on a topical subject.Action shot of a Black-headed Gull chasing a Black Tern

How to Join

It costs just  £3 per year for single membership or £5 for a family membership. Memberships run from 1st September to 31st August. Anyone joining or renewing between 1st June and 31st August is automatically enrolled until 31st August of the following year.

We are now able to accept online payment, including standing orders, if you wish. The instructions are on the Application and Renewal forms which can be downloaded from the menu on the right of this page. The forms are available in PDF and DOC format. Whichever way you chose to pay, please ensure that you keep us up-to-date with changes in your contact details.

You will need to be registered with your bank to make on-line payments. This can usually be done by internet access to your bank.

An annual renewal reminder is distributed (by post or email depending on your preference) in July/August. The new combination lock code for the viewing hides is issued on renewal of your membership and applies from the 1st October when the locks are changed to the new combination lock code.

Members who express an interest in being involved in surveys, conservation activities or taking an active part in running the Group are most welcome. Express your interests on the application form and you will be contacted in due course.
