Becoming a Member of the
Moor Green Lakes Group
The Benefits
You don't have to be a
Member
to visit the Reserve; the access paths are public. The main area of the
Reserve is restricted access to avoid disturbance to wildlife and the only
access is for surveys and conservation and maintenance work. Of course, by
joining you contribute to the costs of running and
improving the Reserve and get to discover more about what there is to see. The Group currently has over 600 Members.
Members of the Group have
access to the viewing hides and receive information about the Reserve and the
activities of the Group via two
News Letters each year giving information on the
latest events, wildlife sightings and topical issues.
Members also receive the comprehensive
Annual Report
which details the results of the numerous wildlife
surveys carried out in the previous year. Each February members are invited to
attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM) to appoint the Group Committee Members
and comment on the Group activities and finances. This is followed by
refreshments and a
talk on a topical subject.
How to Join
It costs just £3 per year for
single membership or £5 for a family membership.
Membership runs from 1st September to 31st August. Anyone applying between 1st
June and 31st August is automatically enrolled for the following year as well.
Renewal packs are sent out with the Annual Report in July/August. The new
combination lock code for the viewing hides is issued
on renewal of your membership and applies from the 1st October when the locks
are changed to the new combination lock code.
To join, download the
application form (in PDF format which can be read by Adobe Acrobat Reader), print it out, complete it and send it with your
cheque to the Membership Secretary at the address on the form. To save
costs we prefer to communicate via email, so if you are happy with this then
please provide us with an email address on the application form.
Members who express an interest
in being involved in surveys, conservation activities or taking an active part
in running the Group are most welcome. Express your interests on the application
form and you will be contacted.
